Amazon Makes Stronger Pitch for Delivery Drones

Amazon.com makes stronger pitch for its delivery drones stressing that it is developing the technology to enable drones to deliver within 30 minutes or less.

Appearing before Congress on Wednesday, Paul E. Misener, vice president of global public policy for Amazon.com: “If a consumer wants a small item quickly, instead of driving to go shopping or causing delivery automobiles to come to her home or office, a small, electrically-powered (drone) vehicle will make the trip faster and more efficiently and cleanly,” Misener told the House Oversight Committee. – Read more here:

It looks like the company’s delivery drones will indeed hit the skies sooner than expected. According to another report, commercial drone operations like Amazon’s highly-touted delivery service could commence in about a year, according to a senior official from the Federal Aviation Administration. FAA Deputy Administrator Michael Whitaker told a congressional committee on Wednesday the necessary regulations for commercial UAVs to operate in public airspace will “be in place within a year.” – Read more here:
