Nevada is all agog with the coming of the drones, and with drones, jobs are not far behind.
Drone jobs are coming to Reno, RGJ reported.
“Our society has built a ready-made workforce with video games,” said Don Cunningham, business operations manager for the Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems. More jobs, like controllers and maintenance technicians, will be popping up as firms making unmanned aerial vehicles — so-called drones — take hold here. The drone industry will make more than 100,000 U.S. jobs by 2025, according to the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International.

A drone manufacturing company is moving its headquarters to Reno, bringing about 400 new jobs to the area over the next two years. Ashima Devices is relocating from Pasadena and setting upusi shop at the Reno-Stead Airport where the company will be researching, testing, and building unmanned aerial vehicles or UAVs. The company makes drones to help law enforcement, fire, and emergency crews gain situational awareness. Read more here:
Drones indeed are going to boost Reno’s economy and once these jobs are launched, hopefully by then the FAA has fully given its official blessing for commercial drones to fly the skies, and other states can follow suit with their own drone businesses.
